Hey guys,

I have 4 inch lift spring on my k5 and i currently have the stock front shackles which look weak as hell and im in the middle of a dana 60 swap so i feel like a dummy if i don't replace them with some beef. i have some shims in the front to correct my pinion angle which looks pretty good but im wondering if i should throw 6 inch shackles in or stick with 4 inch? Are 4 inch lift springs and 6 inch shackles a no-no? The plan is to eventually go to 52" spring up front so id like to not have to buy two sets of shackles. I might just make the 4 inch since i have mild steel laying around that would be perfect size but its obviously going to take some time to make those.

Thanks in advance

just get the HD shackles and FUSH kit from ORD... just a bit longer, bigger bolts and beef... don't get long front shackles, messes with your caster...

and the FUSH kits really beef that whole setup up, better upper bushing and large bolt....

The front shackle is a double edged sword. You really need a 7.25" shackle to get all the droop from a 52in spring swap, at least in my experience with my truck. But it does **** with you caster. You can fix it with shims just make sure to get good steel shims and you'll need 2 for the pumpkin side so the spring plate sites correctly.

It really depends on what that extra travel is worth to you.

And now for something you will only see on KTVU ...
You forgot the other two captains - Ho Li Fuk and Sum Ting Wong.

Good to know! Two shims for the pumpkin side because the studs cant rotate! good thinking.

San Bruno, almost directly under the flight path of runway 10R.
But after 40 yrs of them taking off over my house I don't even notice them anymore.
