I stumbled upon a 95 3/4 GMC Van with a wasted small block and what i assume is a 4L8OE. Is it worth taking this trans? Are the 2wd trans case the same as the 4wd, just nesecitating an output swap?

Also can i make the computer in the van work with my current stand alone GM TBI FI?

Im not sure what combo i have in my future. Proabably a doubler or maybe just an advance shaft to 205 if they make that?
I have my research to do, But i thought id ask for your opinoins?
Thanks

If it has a 4L80E you will need to swap the output to a 4WD version and you will need to buy a stand alone computer or manual valve body for it, both are over $500.

If you can get the trans for cheap its probably worth your while, even if you resell it.

4l80

In a 95 3/4 van it is probably the 4l80e controlled by a 7427 TBI PCM. you could grab the whole harness and computer if you ever felt like using TBI and that transmission. The cases are all the same and you can easily find 4WD outputs for 70 to 100. The stand alone controller will run you 1100 to 1300 depending where you buy, and used could be less. The manual valve body kit will set you back around 250 plus 65 for the CCV assembly for the converter. This is just the kit then you can either do it yourself or find a shop to do it. Be warned that this is a detailed kit that takes about a day to do the mods. This is how I know :D

X2.

Better off using a later TBI/4L80E PCM than buying separate stuff.

Guaranteed some wiring issues would need solved (harnesses tended to get more integrated), but I can't imagine anything that would completely stop you. Standalone or manual valvebody stuff is expensive.
