4\" lift and 42\'s???

Just curious, how could you run 42"s with only a 4" lift?
I just saw Drew Barber's 87 suburban in 4 wheel&off road mag (P68). Has anyone else done this?

Ya, I was thinking of running 38's with my 6" lift but
42's are tempting :)

Re: 4\" lift and 42\'s???

I just got done putting 35" BFG Mud TA's on my 71 K5 with
2 1/2" of lift and had to do some serious sawzall work. This was necessarily for full axle articulation.

Re: 4\" lift and 42\'s???

leroy i have a 71 K5 with a 2 1/2 inch lift and i got 35 BFG MT's on it all the way around and i only had to hack the back just a tad in front of the tire thats it ... its prolly my offset that is the differience my wheels keep the tires in the fenders more so in the back than the front though i have taken the truck to hollister hills (in nor cal) twice with the 35's and couldnt hear any rubbing when flexin but when i looked my rear tires hit the inner fender wells a little bit but nothing bad =) i also hacked the end of my front fenders off due to the rust and it would have rubbed there im pretty sure but never checked
