I have a '77 swb 1/2 ton with all the guts out of a '86 burb (350, 700r4, axles, transfer case, interior, ect, all done by someone else btw) Anyway my question is should I get a 4" lift from rough county or do a 52" swap with shackle flip, zero rates, ect. I plan on putting 35-37R15, maybe 4.10's, for sure lockers rear and prob front as well. This truck is strictly a toy and only used for off road hunting in SD (so lots of mud and lots of snow, almost no pavement) I have never done any trails but have become interested since visiting this site and there are some trails only a couple hours away.

Excellent website btw, lots of great info, so any suggestions would be great!

i don't think i'd go with a 37" tire on those axles.

i'd do this though: http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/4inchliftsystem.htm
and keep it to 35's with a 4.56 r&p swap, some selectable lockers.
being reasonably careful i blew my 28 spline 10 bolts, the 44/12 setup i had held up better with 35's. did you have a 44/12 combo in the truck origionally, or a 10/12? mud and snow is more forgiving that rocks though. i can't imagine really needing more than a good 35" tire anyway. just my $.02

I cant really see spending the money for selectable lockers, everywhere this truck goes its great having a locked diff all the time. the only tight turns I do is in slew bottoms trying to scare up cirtters :pimp:. As for what the truck came with originally I couldnt tell ya, I bought it as is with a bad motor, stuck in a cheep 350 and been running the snot out of it since. I also forgot to mention that I really like the ride as is but want a lift and tires for ground clearance so if i can keep a semi smooth ride that would be great.

if you have the money, you can't beat the ORD system! If you're trying to save some cash, go the Rough Country route......looks like you've done your homework so do what you can afford.:waytogo:

i only mentioned selectable because of the axles you have, but i hear ya on the money part. i have 30 spline 10 bolts and they should be just fine for my 33's....i will be using ARB's or E-locks when i hit the lotto though .
when the G80 takes a dump in mine i'll be doing chromo shafts for a little peace of mind also. unless i find a sf14.

if a smmoth ride is what you want i'd suggest staying away from Rough Country, my friend's truck rides real "rough", horrible actually.

Thanks for the info, I really do not want to sacrafice my ride quality. As for the axles, I've got a good donnor 3/4 ton sittin in the weeds that would love to swap its axles when I blow my little ones up:D.
