Okay, I went with a DIY 4 point roll bar for my truck, I didnt really want a full cage aka jungle gym, but did want something. So I got some Mild Steel, some plates and went to a buddies shop and got it all cut up, bent, and welded. Process took longer than expected. Alot of time to fab up and measure twice and cut once. We ran out of time for me to actually drill the holes in the floor and bolt it down. But that shouldnt take too much time.

I need to paint it, but I also plane to replace my topper weatherstripping, so I may wait to paint it then and in the mean time Ill just wipe it down with WD40. The roll bar wont come out without the topper being off. oh well.

Total cost was $135bux materials & $120bux labor and full use of the shop.

Here are some random pics, Ill try to place then in some kind of order but dont count on it. Ill do a diff post on the shop itself, alot of interesting toys, etc.

5 x 5 1/4 plates for the cage and underneith to sandwich between the body

THought id get a jump and paint most of the bars , bad idea, the paint was tacky and we had to remove some of it, so I ended up removing it all, acetone and a few minutes undid all my work. lol. oh well. here is a lesson, save the paint for last.

Ill get some pics tomorrow of the final "essembly" I just have to drill the holes and get it perma mounted in place. So, more pics to follow. If anyone wants any specific pics or angles, lemme know. Ill just be taking some generic over all and a close up of the welds. The guy that did this is very good at what he does. lol.
