well with aluminum you need basicly half of copper/brass needs.
thay are a LOT more effective at loosing heat.
unless you got well over 500-600 hp i would bet you dont need a 4 core.
my boss got a becool rad 2 core for his mustang. rated at 500hp for the rad alone. that rad keeps the 550hp 427 stoker vary cool and then if more needed we had the twin fan kit for it that took over cooling needs.
That's the one I bought about 6 or so months ago and love it. Went in my 6.2 diesel. Only issue is the fins are extremely flimsy so be careful on install. Once in it's cake. Cools great no issues at all and couldn't beat the price. If you aren't buying from a name brand aluminum company go ahead and save an extra hundred bucks since they're basically all made the same in the low end anyway. Either that or jump a few hundred and buy the good one.
Hope this helps you.
I recently bought 2 Champion radiators from a seller on ebay. Both are well made and were packaged great. One was for my '86 454 Burb, other than being not quite tall enough (no big deal), it fits and works great. I have yet to install the other radiator into my Impala.
Copper and brass exchange heat better. So why are aluminum radiators better? Because they are stronger and therefore you can use bigger tubes.
A good aluminum radiator has two 1" rows. Copper/brass uses 3/8" rows, that's much less surface area, even with 4 rows, as compared to 2 big aluminum rows.
3 AND 4 CORE ALUMINUM RADIATORS ARE A GIMMICK! If it is anything other than 2 rows, 1" each, DO NOT BUY IT! Also, watch out for ebay radiators that are 2 row. Some of them are one 1" row and a second row that is only 1/2" Well the first row being bigger will heat saturate the second, making the second row useless, and you may as well have a one row radiator.
