4 speed overdrive on cl for a 4x4

car tranny adapted to truck . didnt last long.

basicly 3 speed with od.

Ive seen them used factory in trucks  I know the 80s 2wd trucks got them at least. Guy has one in a first gen k5 around here that he installed if i remember right.

If your lookin for a good O/D unit, check out the classified section.

what kind of gearing on those puppies?
Poor. Highway gearing completely. Also not strong, the owners manual pretty much said, "you can tow a small fishing boat...gently."

That said I did almost buy a 2wd with the 6.2L and one of these. Would have made a good DD.

Odd part is that it was a Dodge transmission.

I was reading an article in a rod and custom type mag geared more towards the rat rod craze and apparently those trannys are pretty popular in that crowd. Sorta gives the look of an old Muncie but with od.

I've drven one. Bro's 83 4x4, had one. Way different than any 4speed. But great for what it was. We swapped in some 3/4 ton running gear and some 235/86R16's. It ran beutifully down the road.

I missed out on one in an '82 K10 a few years back...I agreed to buy the whole truck for 500 bucks ,by the time I went to the bank and returned, the truck had been put in the crusher..

We had a few Dodge B100 telephone co. vans at the junkyard I worked at,they had the same overdrive tranny--and I drove one a few times on parts deliveries, and I liked the tranny,I thought they were geared just like a "three on the tree" three speed,in the first three hears, only difference was they had an overdive in 4th gear..not sure of their durability, but these vans had a 225 slant six and both had well over 200K on them, and both were heavily loaded down with parts racks, tools and wire, and we beat the snot out of them and never had anything go bad with the tranny's..we blew a few clutches though..I think a stock 6.2 would have a hard time breaking one,as long as you didn't go doing burnouts or try pulling stumps,etc..
