I am not the biggest fan of 4-wheel parts, but they have to put up with a lot wanna be moron off roaders. Here is a video from a moron that thinks alignment has something to do with his tires rubbing, and it is all 4-Wheel Parts technicians fault.

Buddy of mine sent me a video of this dude saying his new aftermarket turbo started leaking oil so he plugged the oil line and the turbo blew up so it's the companies fault. People are dumb. Add in the internet mechanics that most have never turned a wrench beyond an oil change and installing a light bar and it gets worse.

Not a big fan of four wheel parts either, but I mean they told him the tires were going to rub, what's the big deal, and he was offended. This guy thinks tires are actually the same size between brands or something.
Oh and then he drives a Toyota so there's that:haha:

We get some fallout from the 4WP guys at our shop. Always entertaining. The local 4WP really won't do anything outside of the box, whereas we will.

Then again, if we are pricing out a lift kit with larger wheels and tires, we'll follow the kit manufacturer's recommendations for wheel size/offset and tire sizes.

Watched the first two minutes, couldn't deal with A) his narration, and B) his wheeling. Fock dude, take your balls out of your old lady's pusre and wheel that thing already!
I've listened to enough customers' bitch in the last 10 years I sure as hell don't need to watch it on a youtube channel. The description was enough for me. Claiming a bad alignment caused his tires to rub just proved to me the guy is a pure asshat that doesn't know squat about what he's talking about.

Having had that exact type of discussion with a delusional customer, there is no reasoning to somebody that thinks they know what's up but really don't.

I can't claim to know it all, or be an expert at anything really. I do try to learn enough to know exactly how much I don't know though. Years ago I was a member of a 4 wheel drive club in BC. We had a new guy join, and he really felt he knew everything. Dude had a stockish Honda Ridgeline with tires that were plus 1" taller and wider at most. he thought the "magic honda 4 wheel drive system" was unparalleled, and unstoppable. Talked some shit online ahead of a planned run, showed up and found out how much bullshit Honda spews to sell a POS. Dude got stuck again and again, broke stuff being stubborn and went home with his tail between his legs.

Two weeks later he shows up with a ten year old 4Runner on 35's. At least he learned...

When you see blocks stacked on top of blocks to get a desired lift, and the tech is like “yeah, what’s wrong?” I buy stuff from them if I have to, I even made the mistake of having them try to balance my tires once. That was a waste.

But yeah, dealing with customers suck anyway.

I haven't done much business with 4wp. 2 reasons.
1 a coworkers older brother worked there for 28 years, and was fired during a reorganization. They didn't want to cover whatever measly retirement package they have.
2 They don't have s*&t for anything but a newish Heep or Toyoyo. Newer full size some stuff.
I ordered degree shims from the nearest store to me in Komifornia. I thought the store would get them from there warehouse faster then Summit could send to me. Boy was I wrong. When ordered I promised next day pick up at the Covina store.
@ 20ish mile round trip in LA county afternoon traffic. I thought there might be a problem so I call to check, " oh Yeah the order is here". I make the drive get there, and they can't find it. I say I called and was told it was here wtf?? Jump on summits web site, with my phone on 4WP counter, 2 counter men can see what I'm doing, I order the shims. Tell them to call me when/if they find them. I ended never getting the 4WP order, money refunded. The Summit order was at my home in 1.5 days.

Their tire deals aren't good enough to put with incompetence.

I used to deal with this every day at the shop i was at.... BLAH BLAH BLAH CUSTOM OFFSETS SAYS THEY FIT?!?!?!?!

This guy is a tool. However, depending if the truck had adjustable UCA's, you can roll back caster slightly to help with rubbing, but if its as bad as he says it was, he would need a body mount mod. People think they see one truck on the internet and they think oh, it will work for me.... Nope.

Frustrating as hell.

Good point, he never puts any blame on whoever sold him the tires. Had he showed up to 4wp to buy tires they probably would have told him to not even buy them, and sold him a set that fit.

I bought my set of 38" Toyo M/T from 4-Wheel Parts because they had the best price. Another good thing was they had them delivered to their store for in store pick-up. The kid that help me load them seemed to be pissed off about loading big ass 38" tires into a truck bed of a 10" lifted square body. I told him I could do it myself, but the kid just kept wildly throwing tires into my truck bed all pissed off. One of the tires banged off of my rear sliding glass window. I am glad it did not break.

I run 35"s. I would have driven around that yahoo and been back at camp with a beer before he ever got up that. Did he make it up? At stopped watching at 2 minutes. His narration sucks and he really does not know what he is talking about.

The only problem I ever had with 4-Wheel Parts is about 15-years ago They had a sale on shocks that made them cheaper than everyone else. After the shocks where delivered I looked a the invoice, and they had charged me a handling fee that made the shocks way more expensive. I looked at my original invoice which showed the initial price, and the shipping invoice showed the increased price with handling added to it. They hit my card a second time after the initial purchase without my consent, in order to add the handling fee. I called and complained, but they said tough cookies we do not care.

I’ve never successfully used 4wp as any time I’ve ended up on their page after a broad search for a Gm truck part they offer a keep or Toyota part when I land there. I find it terribly frustrating and usually don’t pay them any more time.
I do however understand the frustration of customer issues especially when they’re doing their own install and diagnosis

4wp put me on hold once and had a whole conversation bitching about me in the background, evidently someone forgot to push the “hold” button, quite humorous. I had ordered a Jeep soft top and they took my money and then claimed they had no idea when it would ship, I wanted a refund so I could get one from another source and they were having a hard time with that

That's the salesmans lack of upselling some extra work to prevent rubbing. Big tires rub on tundras. Alignment can move the tire forward or back so you can drive in without tire rub and drive out with it.

What should have happened is the sales dude asks, "do you plan on using this suspension or just daily around town? We offer body mount mods that make this size you chose not rub. It's an extra 250, what do you want to do?"

That very well could have happened and he's just leaving it out too.

A good tech could have come back to the counter and said call and sell the body mount work before I even start this truck.
