Is there any difference in length between a TH400/208 setup and a 700R4/208 setup?

I know that the 400 and the 700 are different actual lengths but can someone tell me the overall length difference between the 2 setups? I am wondering if the adapter length for the 2 combo's makes up for the tranny's overall length difference in the combo's.

they should be the same overall length, i know the 700r4/np208 and sm465/np208 are the exact same length. i also know the adapter for the th400/np208 is quite thin compared to the 700r4/np208. an educated guess says they are the same length.

400/208 27" from the bell housing flange to the flange on the transfer case side of the adapter.

and remeber that the 400 208 is going to be 32 spline where as the 700 208 is 28 (I think).

700r4 is 27 spline like the th350's. I am aware of that difference. Thanks though.

All of them are the same... the difference is made up in the adapter. I've measured them all at one time or another. The distance from the bellhousing to the transmission/transfer case mount is all the same also.
