I have what started out as a 78 k 20 that I use for bumper to bumper pulls and sled pulls. I currently have a built 350 with a 400 trans and np 203 tcase I am wanting a lower gear ratio and have a 700r4 with a 208 case. Would this be a good swap and what all would be involved? I'm not worried about the speedo or overdrive for the matter. Will the 700r4 work with out a kick down cable? Would it be cheaper to just put on the 208? Thanks for any and all advice.

The 700R4 is WAY lower, to the tune of about 60%. Both the trans and t-case have much lower gearing than what you have.

The "TV" cable absolutely has to be hooked up correctly or it will burn up.

The 208, while technically adaptable to a TH400, takes a LOT of work in your situation.

I rechecked what I had on the shelf and it is not a 208 it is a 241. Not sure if that is better or worse. Also it comes out the left side and mine has to be out the right is it possible to just clock it or will I have other issues?
