400 sbc build

Also stock 400 heads are 441 or 487s. The may have had a 1.60 exhaust in a few applicatons but unless you are looking to build a imca claimer motor they really aren't worth spending any money.

There are multiple camel backs. None of them are that great. Some are 1.94, some are 2.02, some over the counter ones were 2.05 I believe. Not sure on that. None of them are really that great.

The worst Vortec heads outflow the best camelback. Factory to factory.

And for the cost of after market heads you can't compare any of them now. Even the 292 castings would cost a lot of money to get near after market numbers.

So many people are engrained to the older school stuff because it was the best there was 20 years ago. When you think about how much after market heads cost back then, surely they were too much for the average kid street racer to buy. The mysterious D port that is now on most all factory SBC heads. Too funny to think about nowadays.

there was NEVER a factory angle plug head. Over the counter at gm yes NEVER factory.

How is a 492 or 292 GM casting over the counter not a FACTORY HEADS? Do we not call GMPP factory crate motors?

SEE I CAN USE UNNECESSARY CAPITAL LETTERS TOO.

I guess in my thinking if it never came bolted to a engine in a car it wasn't "factory". Yes it was offered by GM but it wasn't offered on a car. Much like a cross ram on a z28. I wouldn't all a 572 a factory crate. Maybe a GM Crate.
