400sbc compleate, no headers or flywheel but other that that compleat, and a 3 speed auto trans, I got this off a buddy of mine a few years ago, to the best of out knowlage, it was out of a station wagon(???) and has never been rebult, but i think it was freshened up.
$450.cad takes it or ???.
The other shoe? I am in Southeren Ontario canada.
but i do go down to detroit on ocation to my wifes aunts, and will try to work something out.

Does this have 2 or 3 freeze plugs on the side of the block?? thanks

The tranny is not a 400 torbo, i am not sure though. I'll go get that pic
(the pan in my sub looks like "texes" and this trannys pan is square)

the frost plugs will pop out it the coolent freeses so the block wont crack (well its /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif supposed to)

need any more pics/info let me know i'll get it with in a day

It is VITALY important to know if it is an original 400 or not. What did the "freshening up" consist of?

i don't think it was much more than cleaning and painting orange /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
i am going to talk to my boss and get a gauge off him and see if it hase been borde out and post up.

the freeze plugs keep coolant from freezing and expanding enough to crack the block and are meant to pop out when the coolant might freeze in the block bad enough torack soemthing bad in the engine

soem day i hope i come across a sbc400, i have not thus far, they too rare.
we dotn have any 70-80 cars like the caprices and such that got these 400's./

trucks got the,m from 75-80 only,.
cards 70-80

but are several different castings/blocks, soem with two f/plugs and soem with three, soem are not desireable/as good, and a couple are very wanted and higher $$

that tranny or at least the output shaft and tailshaft housing may not be original to the wagon, usually the 70s wagons got the 12" long tail version of the th350's, sometimes th375, thats a th350 with th400 guts basically. is literally a HD factory th350, like in a vette pretty much

the tail shaft housings on the 12" tail ones are pretty funky and i just saw my first one ever just last year

good luck

ok i just pulled off the head and chrched the bore it is 3.735".
I also talked to my bud that i got it off of (who got it off the guy who had it "rebuilt" and he said it hadf 5000kms on it after the rebuild /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Just an FYI so no one gets pissed off here:
BORE X STROKE
262 = 3.671" x 3.10" (Gen. I, 5.7" rod)
265 = 3.750" x 3.00" ('55-'57 Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
265 = 3.750" x 3.00" ('94-'96 Gen.II, 4.3 liter V-8 "L99", 5.94" rod)
267 = 3.500" x 3.48" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
283 = 3.875" x 3.00" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
293 = 3.780" x 3.27" ('99-later, Gen.III, "LR4" 4.8 Liter Vortec, 6.278" rod)
302 = 4.000" x 3.00" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
305 = 3.740" x 3.48" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
307 = 3.875" x 3.25" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
325 = 3.780" x 3.622" ('99-later, Gen.III, "LM7" 5.3 Liter Vortec, 6.098" rod)
327 = 4.000" x 3.25" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
346 = 3.900" x 3.622" ('97-later, Gen.III, "LS1", 6.098" rod)
350 = 4.000" x 3.48" (Gen.I, 5.7" rod)
350 = 4.000" x 3.48" ('96-'01, Gen. I, Vortec, 5.7" rod)
350 = 3.900" x 3.66" ('89-'95, "LT5", in "ZR1" Corvette 32-valve DOHC, 5.74" rod)
364 = 4.000" x 3.622" ('99-later, Gen.III, "LQ4" 6.0 Liter Vortec, 6.098" rod)
383 = 4.000" x 3.80" ('00, "HT 383", Gen.I truck crate motor) (5.7" rod)
400 = 4.125" x 3.75" (Gen.I, 5.565" rod)

Two common, non-factory smallblock combinations:

377 = 4.155" x 3.48" (5.7" or 6.00" rod)
400 block and a 350 crank with "spacer" main bearings
383 = 4.030" x 3.76" (5.565" or 5.7" or 6.0" rod)
350 block and a 400 crank, main bearing crank journals
cut to 350 size

[/ QUOTE ]Thats not even close. A stock 400 has the bore 4.125". 030" would be 4.155", which is what I would guess it is.

ok i was told by a reliable soarce that it was a 400 based on the rear of the crank,(witch as it turns out are simaler) i dident think it could be a 400 after i pulled the head, but it dose look to have new pistons

so what say 150$ then i payed 350 when i got it.
if no one buys it i might do something stupid and build a go cart around it /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif
