I just bought a 400 trans. And I was wondering if,,,,,,, I have it rebuilt. Is there anything special I need to do to it. I will be taking it to a professional. But sometimes they just want to get the job done. Instead of "beefing" it up.

Engine will be a 454, T-case 205, Dana 60 front, 14 bolt rear, running 42 Swampers. Mainly for mud!!!

I know you can buy the TH475 straight cut gears (planetaries IIRC) and have them installed, probably some high end clutches and steels, band, of course a shift kit, and that's about all I've heard of for the TH400.

The TH400 is a pretty easy trans to rebuild, you might want to do it yourself if you've got any inclination to do so. Very little in the way of special tools required.
