400 turbo? *UPDATE*

I got a guy that claims he has a 4wd 400 turbo trans that has a 27 spline output, he claims it is out of a newer truck. Could someone have switched out the output for a 27 spline out put? I am wanting to buy this trans but I am wanting to know if he is right and no I have not checked it out my self but I am going over tuesday to check it out.

Check the pan. If its a squarish-shape, its a 350. If its shaped like Texas, its a 400. I'm betting the seller is fisting you and is mistaken for a 350.

27 spline th400 outputs are available aftermarket, but are incredibly rare to just find in a random transmission. Odds are it's a th350 and the seller just doesn't know better. Like all those trucks with 12 bolts front and rear.

If its a 350 turbo Ill still buy it for the price, he is asking $125 for it.

Yea I had one. It had that weird pontiac bellhousing so it was something some made. Screwed me up when I tried putting that transfercase on to a different 400

It is a 400 turbo, someone swapped out the output for a 27 spline output and its sitting in my garage right now. I gave $150 bucks for it and it came with a deep pan I am going to put on it.

it looks just like the 2nd from the left on the bottom, 3 1/2" long. He said the guy that had it before him had it switched over to run a 350 turbo transfer case.
