Hi. I need an information about 402 engine and th350 trans. Will this fit to each other? I would like to change my 350 goodwrench to 402 from Pontiac Trans Am.
I will be greatfull for any info.

Pontiac made a 301, 326, 389, 400 and a 455 but no 402's, chevy had a 402, it was simply a 30 over 396. If you are going to run a BOP (buick, olds ,pontiac) you will at least need a adapter because the bellhousings are different as compared to chevy. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=TCI-230001&autoview=sku This is the adapter I am refering to, also the heads are different on pontiacs, so you will need the pontiac exhaust manifolds, the motor mounts are also different so there will be some fab work involved there as well.

I had a 82 Jimmy that had a swapped in Pontiac 455 in it, so I am somewhat familar with what needs to be done. Hope this helps!:D

Is it a 400 pontiac or a 403 olds? They came with both.

I am a pontiac man so i can help you out as can jt512.

Just starting to get my 400 pontiac geared up to go into my '80 3/4ton.

as i said, It's pontiac 400 :) (403 my mistake)

I think I will buy that 400 pontiac engine and will make all modifications.
And what about the trans? Can handle it? Th400 it's my dream, but here in Poland it's hard to buy one and too expensive to import.

The trans should be fine, i run a 455 pontiac/th350 with a 3200 stall in my 3700LB street/strip car at high 11's without problems.

I agree, there are people putting some crazy HP through th350's, so I wouldn't worry about the trans. Worst case, you build up the trans and it will handle all the power most people will ever throw at it :D.

Just for info, pontiac also made a 350, 421 and a 428. I almost built up a 428 for my truck but the 400 will be fine and less costly, just not as much kool factor.
