So I have an 04 crew cab DMAX truck that I just finished doing head gaskets on. Used to be daily driver but when the gaskets went I build my 87 and its now my DD so I really don't have much use for the 04. Its got some miles and they show a bit in places. Anyways I value it at about $15k. He values his at $9k

Ive been talking to a local about a possible trade. He's built a 41 Ford 3/4t P/U. I haven't seen it yet but this is how he explained it to me...

"41 Ford 3/4 ton 463 cu In BB Chev, Acell digital fuel inj, Gen Vll computer. Trans is 4L80E with compushift computer. Rear end is 92Tbird IRS. Disc brakes all around. new tires. Bucket seats. Rack and pinion steering with Corvette wheel, Body is as it left the farm after 68 years of workin the fields. Everything is either new or rebuilt. Runs now but needs some finishing. Wireing etc."

He also said...

"This thing is set up for twin turbos too with a huge water to air inter cooler. Spearco charged me $2500 US to build the inter cooler and I've never used it."

"I have over 7 Gs into this engine alone and 2500 into the trans."

And...

"Everything is there. Runs, drives and has BC reg. Needs finishing.
The cam is too big and doesn't produce enough vacuum for the power brake booster so it needs a vacuum pump."

I always said one day I wanted to build a rod and I know buying something already mostly done is usually far cheaper in the end but I don't really know a lot about these trucks. Besides the parts put in to it does it have a lot of value? Are those truck desirable? I would be giving up something that is basically to me like money in the bank and a useful vehicle if I needed it for this thing. Anyone have insight?

Pics help, but the 41 ford pickup is a gorgeous truck and is pretty desirable in the hot rod community. I think they are pretty perfect as is and wouldn't modify the body at all. Curious about the "huge water to air intercooler" though, they don't have much space at all for a radiator, let alone an intercooler. Unless they were going to mount that all in the bed?
