427

Yea, 427's are hard to come by, and they can definitely make some power, but as the saying goes "There is no replacement for displacement." This is why it would be better to just build a 454 than a 427. It cost the same amount of money to build a 427 as it does a 454.

if I remember right a 427 is a 396 with a 454 crank... so essentially a stroked 396.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

but I agree, build a 454, it will be cheaper in the long run.

A 427 actually utilizes the same 4.250" bore as a 454 and also ultilizes the same 3.76" stroke as a 396. There are also 427 tall deck blocks that were used in large trucks not to be confused with the 427 that was used in cars.

I got my 427 justs by accident really. When i went to guy the project truck, the guy had this block on a stand over in the corner with a buncha dust on it. and i weaseld it from him for another $100!!! (on top of the 3,500 for the truck) best $100 ever spent! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

It makes pretty damn good power, but its more of a high revver due to the short sroke. so for wheeling its not the best, but its pretty damn good at putting those freekin ricers in their place (my rearview) /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
