*edit* basically it really boils down to tire selection vs dual/single beadlock and rim size

Trying to decide on my next tires. Currently have 39.5s on 15x10s but am anticipating new tires here next year sometime. Need to get into some beadlocks and am mostly interested in SX tires. I could do weld on beadlocks on my 15s for $200 or so and go with the 42" SX2s or get a set of H1 wheels and recenter them for about $400 and have a dual beadlock and go with the 43" SXs. Less sidewall would be more stable but more sidewall floats on snow better. Opinions?

40 LTBs aren't available in 16.5 either which kinda sucks

I can get 42 iroks in 16.5 though. i do have a set of 17x10 wheels with 40 MTRs on them but they are aluminum and don't trust wheeling aluminum wheels. Got them cheap in a trade and work good for friday night special on the town

What's the cost difference in the tires?

Just a quick look at 4WP, not the sale prices.
42x15 TSL: 407
42x16.5 TSL: 404

42x15 irok: 439
42x16.5 irok: 436

They don't list the SXs yet. 43s aren't out yet anyways I don't believe.

How soon are you wanting to do this? The 42 SX's don't show to be available yet.

In 16.5? No offense, I just saw Interco's site said "tba". Could be that they've not updated it yet.

Edit: Anybody know a price on the 43x16.5 SX's if they're avaiable?

ProjectFreedome just got his 42" SXs and judging by the pics I've seen they look pretty sick. I think it all comes down to whether to you to spend a bit more for a double beadlock...

That 42" tire is an SXII (I've seen it listed some places as SX2). It is a slight variation on the original SX design as you can see from the grooves and siping. I don't know anything else about them. The original style SX will be available in 43".

thats what intercos site says too but has no details or specs on the 43s

do you really have problems with losing inner beads? i've never seen that happen.

gotchya. is it common enough, though, for the added cost? i carry a spare, so i guess i don't really care too much...

SX's at 4lbs (thats where you have to go to get them to work in the snow) X 3-5 point U-turns in deep snow = inner beads off rim. Have you ever had to put a tire back on the rim in 2-6' deep snow , not fun (bing a piece of plywood with you).

I voted for the 42's for obvious reasons. I hadnt even seen a pic of these tires before I ordered, but I knew I liked the original SX. They are very good looking tires. The grooving and siping are very nicely done. I cant wait to bolt up the beadlocks and give them a run.
