Found this code on the front axle 44-5 GF, can anybody give me more information on what this is, I know its a 44 but is it a Dana or something else?

The ones I've seen, the digit after the 44 was 1/2 ton. I've had alot of 3/4 ton 44s, and had an 8 there. Seen 5, 6, and 8.

look again 5 6 and 8 all could be the same # if the axle was cast with a inperfection in the cast it would look like a 5 or a 6 the 8 does not signify the 8 lug it just signifys .500 tubes
