There is no floating on rocks steve. The reason most don't like wide tires on rocks is that it reduces your contact pressure. I personally think that is crap, I love my wide tires.

a little search on pirate:

"just a little fyi, Sippy cup was out wheelin with us last weekend and he has those claws. He says he loves the sidewalls but overall hates em because they are so wide, he had to use alot more gas than Jack or I on loose climbs etc. "

I wasn't totally right, but on rocks they would probably be good. I dont know, never ran them /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
For some reason I thought the baja claws were really wide, but they are only 20"wide , 2" wider than a 44" bogger!

More reference to the baja claw, search on pirate.

Re: 44\"+ tire options....

my 44 in. boggers are 19.5 in. wide and the 46 in. claws are also 19.5 in. wide.
the 49 in. iroks are 21 in. wide.

Re: 44\"+ tire options....

that massive mud tire shootout was done at my local mudpit. on of the guys who did the testing on his truck is now running the 49" iroks. saw it yesterday, they make 44" boggers look like rubberbands.

as to your question i think i'd either go 44" tsl or 42" irok. i dont care for those claws, look kinda funny to me.

Joe, Noel is switching to 46" claws fairly soon here, ask him how he likes them as soon as he does...

Me thinks your k5 is going to be snapping axle shafts like crazy with them. Even if it's only running up the rti ramp with grandma driving /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Anyway, I'd go with 44" TSL's. Tony and Ken have proved them to me, me likes.

How did I know your reply was gonna be just like that? /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Opps, I guess I forgot to add the obligitory friendly smiley to lessen the effects of my harsh words...My sincere apologies Mr. Payne! /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Seriously though, thanks for the reply. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The weight thing is definatley good information to know. I never woulda guessed the Claws were the lightest. I know for sure I don't want IROK's...I just don't like the way they look...I dunno, just don't like them. lol

No Boggers either...Little to no lateral traction compared to the others. Plus, I think they are way to wide considerin how tall they are. The 44" TSL's could be an option with some good grooving. But, I kinda wanna do somethin different, and we know alot of us are already runnin the TSL's. Dunno, guess it kinda comes down to the Claws and the TSL's. Of course this is all pretty much forward thinkin, my 42's only have like 10 miles on them, gonna be awhile till Ineed new rubber... /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
