is this a good price? out of a junkyard and what should i look for if i pick it up

spring plates . and NO ball joints. easy to spot is 4 bolts were the ball joints would be.

otherwise 450 not bad for good used. but some and my self have scored them for under 100 bucks.

if drw plan on 450-500 range for new srw hub/rotors to make it a single wheel axle.

thats cheap

check for king pin play, u- joint and the differential inside for broken parts, tubes bent.. otherwise if it just need refurbishing then its a smokin deal

you wont find much play in king pins with the spring inside it. unless the lower bearing is bad. but if so reman kit for both sides under 150 shipped with all parts needed to reman with new king pins.

shoot a dana 60 drw goes for 800 out here and you still gotta drop about another 6-700 to make it useable.

Hell get two if you can lol

its rusty but srw hubs on it sitting in my storage shed and i cant get 800 for it here on the east coast. even have a 14ff srw from 3/4 ton and a 1ton version to go with it for 100 more.

wish i had a way to get them out there cheeper. :doah:

**** i paid $600 for a DRW 60. at that price i'd grab two of them.

I wouldn't turn down ANY kingpin Dana 60 for $450 unless it was missing everything or severely damaged. They're only getting more rare and more desirable, average price that I see is $1K and up.

You can search for years and/or get lucky, but for someone that remotely knows what they have, that's the going rate.

I went to go look at it but the salvage yard is flooded out right now from a storm so there closed..

but i found a 3/4 ton truck for 500 so i can get my body panels and light bezels and everything plus my good ole 14b

Junk yards around me want 1200 plus for front 60s. Then you most likely have to completely rebuild it.

If complete and okay shape than it's a good deal.....not a steal by any means but a good deal. A buddy of mine is constantly on the hunt for all types of parts he can buy and immediately resell for a profit and he would probably only pay $450 is complete and in good shape (of course he doesn't NEED the axle, only would get it with intention of selling for a profit). He's probably resold 20 D60 front axles of this era (Ford, Dodge, GM) over the last few years and he has trouble getting more than $700-$800 out of them. He had a Ford version with a Detroit Locker that I think he only got $900 out of it. Just because somebody is asking $1,200 for the axle doesn't mean they got that much for it.
