i was wondering is anyone knows a good way to get me truck to be a little more responsive on the throttle can i change 454 tbi injectors for upgraded do i have to have engine work done, can i change out the ecm with better a one, any help out there? thanks..

My buddy built a 383 and bought some big block injectors to try in it. They swap out in a few seconds and its way more responsive after having them in. So I would imagine upgraded injectors wouldnt require anything

well if you are feeling your 454 TBI is not adequate, I don't know what will:dunno:
Unless there is something wrong with the engine.

I just sold a crew cab with the 454 TBI and when I first bought it it was awesome pulling a heavy stake bed with lift gate effortlessly, then it started to act up and became gutless and finally wouldn't even start.
I replaced every electronic piece on it and nothing, then I finally changed the fuel filter and it ran good.
There might be some more stuff to look at, I heard the fuel pressure regulator could be bad, it felt at some point that it would starve for fuel when ran at high rpm (3k no more)
Also vacum leaks would be bad since the air is bypassing some sensor when that happens.

I've got a bone stock 91 TBI454 in a extended cab dually. It's got awesome throttle response. Too bad it runs outta legs about at 3500-3600 rpm.

For a big truck I don't see why I would want more than 3k RPM.
My old diesel doesn't give me more than 1800 RPM but it could move a mountain.:thumb:

change all the normal stuff plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air filter, ect before you dive into the motor with a cam and all that. If thats still up your alley i would recomend a cam of your choice, a nice dual plane intake, an adapter plate to mount the TBI to the carb intake, a decent FP regulator, and some newer Vortec heads and you will gain some nice power out of that

35 410 gears, I went out last night found a bad wire i'm gonna do wires cap rotor plus fuel filter and new t stat this weekend.. Then its cross steering time just got to do it got all parts
