I Know the "454 build questions" Topic Has been beat to death and yes I did do a search..... kinda, I can never find what thread i'm looking for. Most of the threads that i found don't apply to my application.

I am getting my 454 rebuilt at a local shop (block only), simply because I don't have the time to do it and I don't have the experience or tools yet. I am wanting a good tow rig engine with lots of torque. I will be getting a basic rebuild on the block with a .030 overbore. I am curious what Cam and carb would be good for this application? I already decided on the edelbrock performer intake (black nascar edition) because I fell in love with it when I seen it.

I have the 236 casting number heads. I know that the 781 heads are the primo heads to use, but I still have not found any. can I just fit my heads with the 2.19"/1.88" valves?

any other advice would be appreciated.
thanks.

If you are stuck on running that manifold, then you'll wanna find some large runner heads. If I were you, for your application, I'd stick with the peanuts since you already own them and pick up a Weiand Street Warrior manifold. They're made for peanut port heads. Paint it black if you must. PM 80'427 on here for a cam suggestion. He runs this setup with a super mild cam and is very happy with it, but I can't remember his cam specs.
