I have a quick question, i just had a hi perf 454 block rebuilt to a 468 to drop into my 85 burban. I havent put the flex plate on and about 2 o'clock on the crank i see a part of a blue gasket stickin out from between the crank/block. Ive talked to the guy who built it and he assured me that it wasnt an issue, didnt trust it so i called another guy i trust and he said its ok. Is it ok? from what little i know gaskets arent supposed to peek out like that. I dont have a pic of it as i need to buy a replacement cord for my camera.

It's probably a one piece rubber pan gasket and they are visable and stick out some. Nothing to worry about.

I talked to the guy who built it and the oil pan is a two piece gasket. I think im missing something here as half the poeple ive talked to say its ok and the other half says get it fixed as it will leak, i think im gonna take it back in and see if the guy cant fix it considering i dropped almost 3k into the motor i figure its kinda like a burger king deal i get what i want. Most likely is petty and a minor nuisance but i dont wanna take the chance.

ill find out more tomarrow when i take it back to the shop. he said two piece but now that you mentioned it im thinking it has to be one piece.
