I just picked up a 454 for my cutlass the other day.

compcams magnum 280H

vintage Edelbroke c427x dual plane intake

vintage 990 squareport cast GM heads.

compcam 1.72 roller tip rockers

nothing outrageous yet.

the block and crank is not hurt. so it'll be fine that way.

thats how I got it. the old 7.4 is a meantime engine too. a really snotty meantime engine. Ima supercharge one of them haven't decided which one.
