As the 1990 Motor does not look so good, I began to look at the crank from my 87 as a base....
I did notice that when I took the crank out there was a lot of play on the thrust washers..
I can see why now...
Look at this!
The rear thrust face on the crank is worn to a knife edge!
And here you can see how much slop there was between the Thrust bearing and the crank.. I would guess its 1/8"!
Oh, quick question for you engine guys...
I Ran a Micrometer on the crank journals..
My Mic is in inches and I am unsure how to read it.. I am a MM based guy..
Ok, the mains and rod journals read between 1/25th undersize ... in other words the Rods read 1/25 under 2.2" and the Mains read about the same under 2.75"...
I seem to remember that this means that the manins are 2.749" and the rods are 2.199... Am I right?
Can someone put this straight in my head?
Cos I think that means that the crank jounals are good... for what thats worth!
