Sorry didn't mean to ruin your rest. To put this in prospective, the bolt is only holding the friction force between the plate and the block or frame. As long as the bolts are tight enough but not to tight to distress all should be well. I am sure ORD knows the shear on the 3/8 16 stainless.

With some goggling I found info on both stainless and zinc coated. Both are more than enough. Mind you I don’t know the exact grade of either. Mine are zinc coated. You can test this with a magnet.
