I'm a little new to the site, but have found much useful info on here. I can't find any info on the current problem I am facing though, so I am posting a new thread. I have a '87 R10, and am installing a 454 from a '80 C30in place of the original 350tbi. It appears the widths of the engine mounts are different between the 350 and 454. I'm not able to fit the engine into the mounts, the engine is wider than the mounts. These are new 454 mounts from LMC. I see many threads in here where this swap has been done, but why wont my engine fit? Any suggestions?

Take the mounts off the 350 and bolt them to the 454. From the swaps I've done over the years, truck and car mounts are different. Swapped a 454 into my 78 Malibu, someone told me to use the mounts off the 454, wouldn't work. Then took them off the motor that was in there, 454 dropped right in.

Same with an 84 3/4t 4wd I had years ago. Swapped from a 408 to a 454. Took the mounts off the 408, dropped the '54 in, no problems at all.

b454 rat,
thanks man, So your refering to the brackets that actually bolt to the block with 3 bolts? I don't have the 350 block anymore so I'll have to find some new brackets I guess.

Bump for a friend. Anyone else got any input. I know a ton of yall have done this swap but I havn't. Can somebody give some input on why his motor wont just drop in.

thanks black betty,
Im calling around to different salvage yards in the houston area to see if I can get some brackets for a 350. But anymore input would really be appreciated

thanks fella's! you were right, I found some 350 mount brackets out of an '82 c-10 and the block fit right down in there. Sledheadak, thanks for decorating my fridge for the month of June, I like that picture!
