i am new to bbc, i just got 1 out of a 79 c20 and the water pump has 2 threaded outputs @ 3/4'' pipe size:confused:....1 of them has a 90* elbow on it that goes straight into the front of the intake right below the thermostat housing.

i had planned on freshining this engine up and putting an aluminum edelbrock intake on it, and a mild cam. the after market intake does not have this water inlet i do not believe. i was wondering what is the best route for the coolant flow on a bbc to help keep it cool when crawling around in the muck?

should i just run that 1 to my heater core and return w/the bung on the radiator or will it cool better if i use both of these outlets 1 to each front corner of aftermarket intake and pull from somewhere else to feed the heater? would having both of these pumping water into the front corners of the intake help it stay cool or would there be a better place to plumb them too, if anywhere at all? does it really matter? I've never seen an outlet from the water pump go straight into the intake like this on any chevy motor, but i have seen on nascar sbc's they run a line into the front corners of the intake and then a cross-over between the 2 water outlets on the rear corners of the intake. will the bbc intake have the same water outlet holes as a sbc intake to allow circulating water up top like this?

Your intake has is my super victor did so will yours.

so my aftermarket intake will have this inlet?! can i use the other outlet for my heater & plug the outlet on the intake to clean up the looks on top of the motor?

I think you should have one on the radiator and one on the intake (before the thermostat will be the warmest).

Any water ports on the intake or engine block will be pressure. Any on the water pump will be suction. Keep that in mind while plumbing your heater/whatever.
