454 with 700R4

A lot of guys have the opinion that a 700R4 will not stand up to a BB 454. Who has actually run and blown a 700-R4 with a BB? What kind of wheeling were you doing when the tranny went out? I just want to know if the strength of this tranny is a myth.

Well, Stephen Watson has been running his behind a 468ci Rat...........seems if they are built right they are pretty tough.

good call, if the 700R4 works for SW with that 468, it oughta be a-ok with dang near anything. It withstood TTC just fine. Factory 700s have some issues, but a properly built one (raptor, art carr, your own rebuild with good parts etc) can take pretty much whatever you throw at it.

One thing to think about is with big tires even a built 454 will have a hard time pulling in OD.It will hunt for the right gear alot.IE in and out of OD.You maybee better off running a 3sd auto instead.But then you lose the lower 1st.Just making you think.Brady
