I went to check the oil in my transfer case, and when I pulled the top plug out oil came gushing out. I meen like almost 2 quarts over filled. This has me wondering, is there some form of oil seal that could be letting the transmission oil into the 205? On that note the tranny oil was also low. There is no sign of leaking except oil coming out the breather of the transfer case. Any wisdom? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

yes there is a seal between the tranny and t-case. and if your tranny always is loosing fluid and your t-case is over filled, I can almost gaurentee this is the problem...

So there is one. Is it in the adapter? would napa carry this or do I have to get it from a tranny shop

Ok thanks alot! Just off the top of your head, do you know some place that sells a complete seal kit? If I have to drop the case I may as well freshen it up.

oh, and I got my seal/gasket kit for my sm465 and NP205 from ORD, but the kit did NOT include the adapter seal of which we are speaking.

national drivetrain is in reno think
thats who I ordered my rebuild kit from last time
FYI you have to use gaskets not silicone between the adapter and the gearboxes
the gasket thickness is part of the relief distance needed to clear the snap ring that retains the bearings
