allright. got my donor truck. got garage space. got my new clutch/flyweel/associated bearings. i know some of you guys have done this before. got a couple questions.

1. do i need to remove the steering colum to install the clutch from the donor truck? donor is a 84 k30

2. what size bolts do i need to bolt the linkage to the frame?

3. what's the easiest way to tell if i need a new starter? new flywheel has 168 teeth.

4. i'm sure i'll think up question four, but i can't right now.

any insight you all can provide is appreciated. thanks in advance!

Yes you do. I checked to be sure, and the whole brake pedal bracket needs to come out of the old one and into the new, whether it's hydraulic or mechanical clutch.

Short and fat? :dunno: I assume you're talking about the bracket for the lever arm? 7/16 x 1" prolly . . . just drill it out to whatever fits well.

count the teeth on the old flywheel/flexplate . . .

4. i'm sure i'll think up question four, but i can't right now.

I can't think of the answer to this one right now . . . :haha:

I'm currently doing a mechanical clutch NV4500/NP205 into my formerly TH400 '82 K30 crew cab, cool stuff . . . Course, I swapped the whole cab at the same time for a std. tranny cab, so I saved myself some headache--wait a minute :doah:

u will also have to cut a hole in the transmission tunnel unless u got a std tranny tunnel for the shifter when i did that swap i found it easier u move the trans tunnel first

Starter should not matter for nearly all SBC's. At my buddies shop, we would grab any SBC starter and bolt it right into place. Usually just had to adjust shims if needed, but this was rarely a problem.
