I know there are tall and short versions, are they the same length and do they use the same output shaft on the 465?

Also, I need a flat belly on my truck. Can I accomplish that with either adapter or do I need to use the short adapter? I'll be making my own crossmembers.

AFAIK they use the same output. I've never heard of "short" and "long" 32 spline outputs. I think the late 205 and 208 adapters are interchangeable or one and the same. Both the same output length and both 6 bolt round. I actually have no idea which t-case mine was originally bolted to.

Anyways, I have the tall style and the feet of it sit roughly 7.5" below the output shaft of the trans, or about even with the bottom of the rear portion of the 465 case.

Kert runs the short style adapter in his setup and the feet on his appear to be 3-4" higher. There's too much crap sitting under it right now to get a good measurement.

The bottom of the 465 sits just below my frame now, there's not much I can do about that. Its pretty far forward though and I haven't hit it yet so I'm not too worried.

If the tall adapter hangs down as far as the 465 it sounds like I will have to look for a short adapter. Anyone know which years had which adapter?

'85+ are all short (as opposed to tall), except CUCV's apparently. Later 205 adapter is its own animal, roughly 10" long '85 and later, and interchanges with nothing else.

How is that different than a 208 adapter? I was under the impression that all of the 32 spline 465's used the same length outputs and 6 bolt round t-case patterns, no?

Whatever, I got the 465 and adapter for free and my junk bolted up. :haha:
