465 2wd to 4wd conversion

can I pull the guts from the 4x4 case and swap them into a 2wd 465 case to make it 4x4? I have no real reason for wanting to do this other than to do it.My '76 465 is gettin kinda sloppy and the other one is nice and tight not to mention Hydro. will the clutch,pressure plate from a hydro work in a mechanical 465? is there a difference?

Yes to all of it, BUT you will need the hydraulic clutch bellhousing. The cases and such are all the same, the only difference between the 2 and 4 wd versions is the mainshaft and output bearing retainers.

Sweet! does anyone have a link to rebuid manual or anything for the 465? Where can I find rebuild kits? I've got a 2wd sm420 from a '65 that I wouldn't mind putting to use also.
