468 BB Chevy - What is this worth?

not saying the cam gear choice is wrong but there is some newer stuff out there now thats more compatible and last longer of the brass / bronze options .

The gear that came on the distributor from Edelbrock is the correct one, you don't need a bronze gear with that hydraulic roller cam. That is only required for solid steel core cams that are usually used on more aggressive solid rollers.

Cool, I was thinking sometime like this….

Wanted to add this list to this thread for anyone that may come along and read it start to finish....

One of the things I had difficulty with regarding my engine rebuild was finding a list of parts that seemed to work together for my old 468 block. I made sure that me and the Machinist kept track of all parts added to this rebuild. The parts list with corresponding part numbers is included below. I also included before and after pictures. I do not have a picture of the engine with the valve covers on it yet but I will add that soon.

Also, could not have done this without alot of guidance and parts from Heath @folkenheath (Volcano manifolds)

Please don't ask me to total the cost... I'm afraid to know.
Hope to also get the VintageAir brackets and accessories on soon. The Stewart Water Pump is slightly interfering with the timing cover. I'll need to grind down part of the water pump legs for proper fit but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Oh I was just talking about the black rtv. I thought it looked like regular rtv and not the “rightstuff”.
I figured that you were concerned about the black vs gray..
Cuz the cosmetic aspects of the color are the most important!

That was with my assumption of you always being serious, never a smart-butt..

I was born a smartass. It's a way of life.

The RTV was actually Permatex The Right Stuff.

The sealant used on freeze plugs and threaded inserts was Permatex Pipe Joint Compound
