49\" IROC\'s

has anyone priced out the new 49 inch IROC swampers yet and if so how much. curious as too if i should cancel my order of the 44's and get them. if the price isn't too much more.

I think you will need one hell of a lift for those! 6 inches would not cut it.

That's 2 g's in rubber alone ... forget the fact that you'll have to run deuce and a half Rockwell's to keep from snapping your one tons like twigs...

You dont balance bias ply tires that are that large.

why cant you get them balanced?
there is a guy local here that does tractor trailer tires and farm equipment... i asked him about balancing 40" hawgs... he said he could balance any size you wanted.....??!! /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

You can. I just never have. Bias ply always flat spot after sitting. After I run them a little... they even them selves out just fine. Most everyone I run with does this same thing. With larger tires that is.
Some of the big ones... you are going to have to add lbs to even those suckers out.
Thats why there is a trend going to putting 'stuff' inside tires to balance them.

I ran some guessing numbers and came with that thier 70 lbs lighter a piece than the xml's

If a Super Duty wheeling pretty hard on 1 tons with those XML's on Upper Helldorado can go through it and only bust a stub shaft because of a bad steering box....I think they might cut it...Not to mention the Powerstroke makes slightly more torque to put stress on the drivetrain than the engines in our trucks...

IMO, running 48/49" tires on 1 a D60 would be similar to a 37-38 on a D44. Completely out of it's league. You might get away with it for easy trail rides in a relatively light rig with light torque applications, but as soon as you get serious, BANG!

Big tires are great, but reliability is more important to me... I'll never go beyond 42s on a D60 (maybe 44s if they come out with a narrower width) and I have a buggy about as light as you can make a full size, plus 35 spline stubs, forged joints, and slugs...

Well I think Vinces K5 is more of a show truck/light wheeler and the Burb is more the hardcore wheeling rig so for the Blazer the 1 tons will hold fine.

He mentioned to me something about having the biggest truck in town this summer The 49's will definitly help with that /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
