I'm mid stream in my build and thought it would be nice to give back to this forum by posting my project with pictures and how I did certain things so others can pull from the info on thier build, since thats what I did.

Body and frame is a 1989 suburban registered as a diesel.
Ive pulled the suspension, axles, motor, trans and transfercase to make room for 1-ton axles, 64 inch rear leafs, 56 inch front leafs, cummins 4bt motor, a518 trans with a 205 transfercase. My goal is a daily driver getting 26-30 mpg capable of completing trails such as the rubicon.

So far I have built the rear 3.73 14 bolt FF axle and added rear disc brakes. I installed 64 rear leafs off a 2004 duramax 2500 by using a ORD shackle flip and moving the stock front hangers forward.

Up front I installed my dana60 with 3.73 gears. But getting ready to pull it out again to install 56 inch rear springs up front. Hopefully this will be a good decision.

The Cummins weighs 200#s more and I will assume the 205 t-case weighs about 40-50#s more than the 241 that came out. Im pretty close on my estimate of 250 pounds more. Remember im using the cummins 4bt, NOT the 6bt thats in the dodge trucks

The motor is a 1989 cummins 4bt out of a frito lay delivery truck. It was supposedly a runner but I didnt want to chance it so I tore it completely down. From Tennesee diesel I got all new bearings and gaskets. To top it off I got 75 horse injectors and an he341 turbo, 3800 rpm gov spring, modified fuel pin and other goodies. This will net me 250hp and 500 ftlbs trq.

The trans and transfer case are from a 1993 dodge cummins. An A518 trans completely rebuilt, and Im in the process of freshening up the 205.

I also pulled a 40 gal diesel fuel tank and skid plate from an 84 burb and installed them in mine

Whered you get your motor/tranny/transfercase from and how much was it? i got a 84 burb with what looks like a trashed 6.2.

I got the 4bt from a guy who pulled it out of a frito lay delivery truck. I paid $1000 I think. The trans and transfercase is out of a 1993 dodge cummins 4x4 truck. I paid $800 for the set. I had to pick that year because I needed passenger side drop t-case. I think 90-93 dodge used the 205 pass drop. my adapter plate was for a dodge trans so thats why I went with the A518

Just realized the difference in a 4BT and 6BT the other day, and I'm really interested in this build. Been tempted to do this to my C30.
