Hello All I Just Got A New Set Of 42"tsl's
Gonna Take A Hot Knife To Them Looking For Some Ideas W/feedback...

mine are cut, but I can't find any pics on my hard drive to show you how. I love how they do. Rocks at disney, ok and mud and hill climbs around here I am impressed with their flex and hook. mine are grooved 2 times each lug in the center, straight from the inside of the angle out to the outside corners. Each side lug has a straight cut in it (straight to the lug). the center lugs look like 2 triangles and a diamond when you are done.
on pirate you can see my tires on my buddy's s-ton, the thread is "urban rock garden today" in general. can't get the damn search to work right now on pirate.
it is quite a ways back, so scanning threads for it won't work

you can kind of see the tires. the grooves on the center lugs go out at 45* angles and the side lugs follow the lugs.
sit beside your tire with a bullet heater (kerosene) blowing on the tire about 1 foot below where you are grooving. by the time you roll the hot spot up to you it is cool enough to touch but warm enough to groove like butter. Works better if it is cold out (you don't feel like you're on fire)

How Deep Are The Grooves On The Ouside Lugs,
Ever Had A Problem With Ripping Them Off?

okay, mine look like Kid Jethro's on the other grooving post
never had any trouble with ripping. We are talking S-10, tube frame, vortec 350 and lots of throttle, on rocks and dirt. no worries.

Did my SX's the same way as these 42's. Pretty much the same everyone else does. Works very well, helps the lugs wrap around the rocks. I wouldn't groove the outer lugs. I did the outer wide ones on my SX's and it did tend to rip those outer lugs

dunno about the rest of ya, but big swamper rubber costs to damn much for me to be able to stomach cutting big chunks of it out, lol! I might do the center of the tread, but the outter lugs... nah.

My 42's had never been on the truck when I took the groover to'em. The cost of the tires wasn't a concern- I knew what I expected of them, so I grooved them accordingly. Tires are like tools- If they won't do what ya want them to do in stock form, them modify them till they do what ya want.

Not 42's, but my Q78's have the each center block split, and every other outer lug done. I do have a problem chunking the outer lugs, though. They like to tear off on rocks

Did you groove the outer lugs, which is what causes the chunking issues? Stock?
