trolling for a tranny for my bubby's project. I helped him pull a tranny from pick a part for a core, but another friend has been talking **** and whispering snake in his ear...
Looks like he is going to try and build his toyota pickup with a rebuilt 4.3 V6 motor, rebuilt transfer, and 4l60 with a couple hundred thousand miles in unknown condition, from an oldsmobile bravada that looked suspiciously clean to be in a wrecking yard. Can we say, "tranny problems?" I worked my ass off pulling that core with the understanding it would be rebuilt or used as a core, it's going to be hella tight in the toy, and not easy to pull again. I don't want to be helping him off the trail, or have to replace the tranny.
The snake whisperer doesn't 4wheel, so it doesn't bother him if it goes belly up in the sticks somewhere...
I even made a few calls and found a NEW 4l60E at a dealer WITH torque converter for 1600 bucks, if he thought rebuilds at 12-1400 was too much.
Anybody have a trans that they at least know was running when it was pulled that they want to get rid of? I really don't want to spend my life working on this guy's stuff over and over, but he's my only wheeling buddy anymore...
