So I have been battling with my 1997 Jimmy and transmission fluid leaks, I have fixed all the bad connections on the cooler, changed the pan gasket and filter, changed the grommet at the dipstick tube and it melted within a month then I changed it and I thought I was done, I took a 5 minute drive and I get smoke again from atf on the crossover exhaust, I look and the vent hose for the transmission had cracks in it and leaked where it goes towards the front then goes up to the tip of the dipstick tube.
I changed the hose all the way yesterday and I drove today for 5 minutes again and it leaks at the vent at the top.
Did a little research and this seems the most likely.
I don't have it overfilled but when it gets low enough it doesn't leak, it only needs to be a pint low to not leak but I am inclined to do this fix.
It's only got 130k miles and it's leaked on and off all it's life and probably got a little warped maybe?
It runs solid so other than the leak it's great.
What does the brotherhood think?
I have buyer for it and he's my friend, I want it good before I give it to him.
