I know they were all different through the years, but will one from another vehicle work if it is the same year?

I have a 99 Blazer that needs a transmission. I tried rebuilding it myself, but I can't seem to get first gear to work. Everything else is, just no first. I took it back apart, thought I found the problem, but no change.

So I found a transmission out of a 99 Tahoe. Will it work? I found interchanges for the different years (They are ALL different) but not models. Do I assume that means that all 4x4 4l60E's of th same year will interchange?

I am not 100% sure, but I think that the trans case will be the same, only the torque convertor is different. That would be in the stall speed for the engine. I would bet that the rest is the same. The Tahoe may have beefier clutch packs, but that would help you in the blazer.

I think it will for sure work, but when you install it id buy a new torque convertor anyway. im probably wrong but I remember reading that the 4l60e's from 95' and older wont work on anything 96' and newer, so if its a 99' Tahoe going into a 99' blazer it should work just fine.

Yeah, it's not like the old days. 93-94 is one version, 95 is one year only, 96-98 is different, 99-00 is different, and 01-04 is different. At one point even the case changed. The old ones had cast-in bell housings whereas the newer ones are bolt on. Makes me want to throw in a TH350 and be done with it.

Someone on S10Planet said that he wasn't sure about my 4x4, but 2wd will not interchange V8 to V6. I haven't gotten an answer as to why yet.

It works!

I haven't actually driven it yet, but I ran it through all the gears on the lift and everything seemed right. Whew, took a gamble on that one.
