I need a new transmission dipstick tube for my 99 k2500. I've checked napa, advanced, autozone, LMC, jegs, summit, ebay, Amazon, local GM dealer and 2 local junk yards. Looks like it's a discontinued part. No luck anywhere.

Thank you!

I can get them through my distributor, genuine GM, part numbers 15183801, and 15832205. The old numbers were discontinued, they still make these locking factory style dipsticks, I've used them in 4L80E swaps myself.

That's weird. Every place I called, even the dealer said they are discontinued.

Can you verify that the 4l80 and 4l65 use the same dip stick? I've read it but never been 100% sure

I am guessing the original part numbers were discontinued.

The numbers I used before were 15832205 for the tube, and 15791230 for the dipstick. The tube is still the same number, but the dipstick is a different number and shows it works for both yes. It makes sense to me, the tube has to change to fit the trans, but if the tube is the correct length they can use the same dipstick for multiple trans.

Now that doesn't mean you can always use the same dipstick, the way to verify this is to make sure the "full level" on the dipstick is flush with the pan rail, this is where it should be. This is true no matter what dipstick or housing you use.
