Anyone got a stock single t-case handle for a 4l80e/205 combo that will work with my figure 8 t-case? I have the original handle that came with my '69 K5 in good shape if anyone want to trade as well. Thanks

Mike

Mike if you haven't found one let me know. I may have located and extra. Below is what it will look like and they came in black or chrome.

Chrome or black don;t matter. I would need the link and the rail interconnect as well if available. Will my stock shift rails work out of the '69 K5 or do they need changed as well?

Mike

Interesting that it is right side mounted as well which is fine. less clutter on my side of the truck.

The shift rails I am not sure about. The guy that I think has the extra shifter is out of town till the end of next week. I have left word and will let you know.

I may have an issue using this as I am using a 2wd tranny and don;t see how the shifter is mounted. Is the mount 4wd only or am I missing something

Hey Mike,

Sorry for the long wait. I have not come up with another shifter but if my plans work out I can ship you mine come the end of the weekend. I hope to be able to use my stock suburban shifter.

I will let you know.

I have some off late 400/205's and one off a late 465/205. Should be the same as the 4l80/205.

If it looks like the one pictured, I would be interested.

Question for the original poster. Will a Th400/NP205 shifter work as the 4L80 is longer than the TH400. Also the shifter is mated to the 4WD t-case adapter (hard to tell in the picture but it is), if you are using a two wheel drive tranny it will have nothing to mount to. You would probably be better using a cable shift and making a custom bracket. If you get it to work, let us know as it would be interesting to see what you had to do in order for it to work....

I am using a 2wd tranny, but the shifter mounts to the adapter. I still unsure why the 350/205 shifter I have won't work but I will check it out as soon as the 4l80e shifter i got from PS arrives.

So you are using a 2wd tranny with the tailshaft housing removed and bolting the adapter directly to it?

If you are that makes sense. At first I thought you were going to divorce mount the transfer case which is why I was wondering about mounting the shifter

That is exactly what he is doing Leadfoot. This gives you extra length on the output shaft to reach into a short input shaft on the early model 205s. I have done this and it works great.

Good information to know. Thanks!

Does the shifter need any mods or the hole in the floor for 4WD as the 4L80e is longer than the TH400?

I don;t know the differnce in length between the 400 and 4l80, but it can't be much. My '69 K5, I am having to move the motor and tranny because the 4l80e is 3.5 inches longer than the th350 I took out. I can't move the motor foward 4 inches, so I am more than likely splitting the difference and the motor will go foward 2" and the tranny back 2". Moving the tranny and transfer case back may help me where i won't require modifying the rear driveshaft from the 4" lift, but will have to make a new front drive shaft.
