Is it even possible? I know these are a lot longer than my TH350. I would love the strength and especially overdrive. Just wondering if anyone done it?

If I had the time to do a writeup I would... My brother and I did this swap on the '87.

Perhaps I'll start working on one, if there is sufficient interest... This swap and cheap do not go in the same sentence... :D
Plus, we are still trying to get the shift programming better.

in one of teh petersons articles aboot red sled. they put one in. they used a standalone computer for it.

So YES it IS possible. if i was to redo my tranny i would have done the 4l80 instead of just a 400.

I am about to do the conversion in a Suburban. I will take pictured. As for a formal complete nut and bolt I doubt I do that.

Expensive to do. Tunnel mods required. Stick with the 400.

It is almost entirely the same as a TH400 why would you need to modify the tunnel? Not saying it isn't true, just trying to picture what the problem is.

If anyone figues out how to get a 205 behind one of these in a 98 let me know the 205 is the easy part its the 98 computer stuff thats the issue

Ouch, alot more then I thought, but then again I guess its not to bad for what your getting.

I just bought a Compu-Shift Controller and Trans from Bow-Tie Overdrive which came to $3720. Then you have the HAD driveshafts which will be $650. Not to mention the rebuilt 205 at $650. Then of course you're putting a new trans in so you need to at least flush the trans cooler in the radiator, at another $220 it's easier to replace it and know for sure it is clean. Of, and the cooling lines are another $130. Then if you do like I did and buy the 4l80e to figure 8 205 adapter that is another $320.

That figure comes to $5690. Now it can be done MUCH cheaper but I got burned on 1 trans I wasn't going to get burned on a second. This should be a very stout setup with no worries for years to come.

ive already got a 4L80E, complete wiring harness and 2 stand alone computers for my swap, which has been postponed until further notice

muddy, for less than a grand you could be complete.....what's the hold up? I hope to be able to have mine done with in the next 3 weeks. Have to wait on Bow-tie to get the trans too me.
