4L80E in a K5

sure why not? its electronically controlled so youll have to firgure something out. I know a few people have taken the harness from a truck with a diesel in it because they're "stand alone" systems. I also know that theres a guy local to me that makes a controller for those trannys. Its a really nice setup, allows you to control shift points, firmness, and displays transmission temperatures on a little screen in the cab. And you can adjust all of this on the fly, its kind of expensive (somewhere between 300-600 dollars iirrc)but its well worth it if you tow alot and want some bling.

I dont know what you want to put it into, or what the OEM equipment is but depending upon that, you may end up with a different crossmember/location for the trans. Im not sure but I think many 4l80's had a 208 behind them, and your probably looking at some driveshaft modification.

It would be going in a '90 K5. I'm about to go with a new engine and tranny. I do tow a camper alot so I thought I'd look into a stronger tranny.

GO WITH A 6.0l AND A 4L80E. IT'S A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN. TRY TO GET THE DRIVETRAIN OUT OF A 2500 01 OR NEWER.
