first price i got was 2200. :eek1: have a friend that said he could do it for 1600, that with a 2 1/2 hour ride. 2200 is really the standard price? is this tranny complicated or something? my cucv th400 was 300, never expected over 2000 thanks

Yeah around $1500 is normal. I dont know wtf makes it cost so damn much honestly. Its just an electric turbo 400 with an OD...

The only thing annoying about rebuilding the 4l80e is there is a clutch pack that requires a special tool to align them.

My buddy paid $2600 at AAMCO for his and they knew he was a BMW tech too. Thats in Socal though.

Whoever does it, get a guarantee in writing. My own dealer got stiffed by another AAMCO, rebuilt the trans for slipping in one of our Chevy shuttle vans, then 3 weeks later it had no reverse, they tried to blame it on us installing it wrong and not cleaning the trans cooler or checking it for flow......... needless to say, they rebuilt it again for free after our boss was done with their manager......

My local guy quoted me $1600 for a 4L80E rebuild, with a one-year/12k mile guarantee.

damn guys....i have a local guy who is a couple hours away who sells on ebay, reman'd transmissions....have used a bunch of them so far...last one was a 4L60E and with a torque converter it was just over a grand. i took him the broken one, and the cash, and he gave me the new (rebuilt) one with a new converter.

let me try to find his info for you, he ships all over.
