The 4L80E I have in my 87, started acting like the converter was going bad the other day. It felt like it was slipping. But upon further diagnoses it is not the converter. When you put the truck in first the truck goes great shifts through all the gears. When you put the truck in second, it will start out in 2nd like it is programmed to

However when I put the truck in OD the truck will sometimes start out in 2nd and sometimes start out in first. And if you give it half throttle or more the tranny doesnt know what to do and starts shifting back and forth violently causing the whole truck to shake.

I know there is a 1-2 shift solenoid. Could this be bad? Or is it something worse?

Thanks for the help!

i dont no much about these trannys but try swapping out to a stock computer if u have a custom one made up like it sounds. again, i dont no what im talking about really, just a suggestion.

No he is still using the stock 6.5 convertor. Works with the 383 well..

Thank you Baber.

When I had the Turbo 400 in the truck i had a 2500 stall converter and it was ok. When I put in the the 4L80E in the truck I figured I would give the 6.5 conveter a shot before spending 500 bucks on a converter and well the low stall speed was perfect for my motor.
