I need a new 4L80E.

The application is my C2500 Burb for towing.

Any recommendations and/or places to stay away from?

How long have you been running it?

At least 8 years.

I towed my boat and travel trailer all summer long with it. Both of them are 8k plus. Never any issues. I did add an external B&M cooler ran inline with the radiator cooler. I also added a deep sump aluminum BM trans pan. In the heat of the summer the trans never got over 160 degrees.

edit - came with an update connector and harness end as well.

Interesting. A 3-year warranty ain't bad at all...and no shipping to mess around with.

Yup, and the folks at the oRielly's I went to order the trans with a deposit and I just brought my old one in when the new one came so didn't have to mess with the core cost.

I know there's a good place in socal, but no idea on their price for the 4l80e.
I was pricin an nv4500 and their price was $1500 + $250 core, then they had a special for $1000 + core.
I have shift Management Inc. Local to me here and they want $1500 + core and the warranty is 18 months 18k miles.
I know you are not really in socal but closer than here.

My dealer aggressively price matches and competes with other places in town. Worth a look for a genuine reman.

They also have a nationwide warranty, they prefer you bring them the transmission to fix but you break down they refer you to the closest place they have an agreement with and get you taken care of.
Happened with me

If you want to go the used route. Look for a 1994. It has the newer harness connector and solenoids. So, 1993 and older trucks can’t use them. But doesn’t have the mounts for the 1995 or newer cable shifter. So, 1995 and up trucks can’t use them. They are used part unicorns and go for cheap.

However, you still have a 25 year old used transmission....
