Has anyone swapped in a 4L80E and Transfer case into their K5?

Thanks

For enough money anything can be fitted.

The toughest part of the 4L80e swap is the standalone controller and custom adapter for the xfercase.

If you're running a smallblock it might be more economical to do a 700R4 for the overdrive gear.

Thanks Greg. The 700R4 would probably be the most economical. Considering a donor vehicle is easy enough to come by in my area. Along with a TBI 350.

We've got a 700R4 in our '72 3/4 ton 2wd work truck. We tow and haul frequently, but not abusively. We are on our 4th 700 and a couple of them were TCI's allegedly heavy duty ones. If you are going to swap in an OD you need to be honest with your driving desires/ needs. The cost may not make sense economically on a truck that's not driven a lot. And if it's to make driving nicer the electronic shifting ones are a lot nicer in my opinion. A 4l80e is on my dream list, but I'll keep my th350 until I can afford the 4l80 because of all the failed 700R4s we've had. A truck that goes through mud or up steep hills should have a beefy transmission because of the extra load in my opinion.
