So for our tow rig we have been noticing that the tranny gets hot enough that you can smell it when you get to destination. We added a cooler and guage to it

My question is this. We havent had a guage before...so what shoud it run?

We are getting 190-200F on open flat ground even with load....on hills it will climb to 250 with a load and 230 ish w/o load.....

250 is too hot for long fluid/tranny life.

How/where is the temp sender? The pan? The line before or after the cooler?
